Welcome to OregonWest Excursions! Below is our 2017 calendar based on the questioners we received from you. We may tweak this as things come up during the year… Thank you for all your great input! February – Yellowstone in the winter (F) Even if you have been through Yellowstone Park a dozen times in the summer, Yellowstone’s unique winter environment should not be missed! Visitor statistics show that snow-coach tours are quickly becoming the most popular way to visit Yellowstone. March – Snow Train Sacramento to Reno (F) Getting there is half the fun! From the lush Sacramento Valley, through the historic Mother Lode Country, to the top of the High Sierras… let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! The Snow Train is undeniably romantic and is one of America’s most spectacular rail rides! Party and dance as we leisurely snake our way through the beautiful mountains and sing in the Piano Lounge Car like Bing Crosby’s yodeling party clickity-clacking toward Vermont in “White Christmas” – only with better views (sorry, Vermont)! March – Tucson (F) With 350 days of sunshine a year… Tucson is the place to vacation! April – Thunder Over Louisville (F) Celebrate the kick off to the Kentucky Derby at Thunder over Louisville… The event is not only bursting with vibrant, colorful fireworks (It is the largest firework displays in North America) but also presents a dazzling air show from cutting-edge military jets and aircraft. Our hotel, the Galt House is “front row” and home to “Thunder Command” for the excitement. Enjoy this spectacular spectacle from our own private viewing suite! May – Yosemite Sequoia Sequoia (F) is home to giants: immense mountains, deep canyons, and the world’s largest trees.  It was America’s second national park designated in 1890. The park extends to the summit of Mount Whitney, the highest mountain in the contiguous 48 states. Plunging in the opposite direction, far below the surface, are over 200 marble caverns… Yosemite: The granite monoliths, towering waterfalls, and  pastoral meadows provide breathtaking scenery. June – Cape Cod & Boston (F) Welcome to the sandy shores of Cape Cod. Extending some 70 miles into the sea, the Cape is home to both natural beauty and quaint colonial villages. July – Victoria Whistler & Vancouver BC (M) Enjoy all the breathtaking beauty that this tour offers as we travel through coastal mountains & quaint seaside villages, and to world class cities blessed by magnificent nature. August Canadian Rockies (F) While Italy has Venice and Florence, Canada has Banff and Jasper… legendary natural marvels that are as spectacular & vital as anything the ancient Romans ever built. Don’t think these protected areas have no history. Of the thousands of National Parks, Banff, created in 1885, is the third oldest. The two bordering parks were designated Unesco World Heritage sites. August – Mackinac Island (F) The State of Michigan is blessed with the riches of unspoiled nature: the world’s longest freshwater coastline, lakes that feel like oceans, miles and miles of cherry orchards, some of the highest freshwater sand dunes in the world, and more than 100 lighthouses. Mackinac Island is a truly “all natural” theme park of America. September – Charms of Chesapeake Bay (F) the charms of Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay.
