Our first stop on this scenic tour is Salt Creek Falls… At 60 feet wide and 286 feet tall, Salt Creek Falls is the second tallest waterfall in Oregon! Take an easy walk on the paved path to view the top. Afterward we’ll enjoy a fresh, wholesome lunch while taking in a spectacular view of Odell Lake at Odell Lake Lodge… We’ll make our way to Bend via the Cascade Lake Scenic Byway… One of the prettiest drives in the United States, so get your camera ready! As we round a corner you’re greeted with a majestic view of Mt. Bachelor, the largest ski area in the Pacific Northwest. As you drive by many majestic lakes along the route, it is easy to see why this was named after the Cascade Lakes. Some of the lakes that you will encounter include Todd Lake, Sparks Lake, Cultus Lake, and Crane Prairie Reservoir. Welcome to Bend and our home for the next three nights is the beautiful Double Tree by Hilton… conveniently located next to Old Town. You’ll have time to get cozy in your spacious room before our welcome dinner at the newly renovated Currents at the Riverhouse overlooking the Deschutes. Double Tree by Hilton (L, D)

Day 2 – Friday October 14th 2017 – Local Touring Bend
After breakfast we’ll be joined by a wonderful Naturalist guide from Wanderlust Tours… Their passion is to help people understand the intricate links between nature and us; after all, we rely on everything she provides for us. Realize a sense of peace, harmony, and tranquility and experience the feeling of being a part of nature. Today we’ll tour the Lava Lands of Central Oregon… When you visit the Big Island of Hawaii, you expect to see lava fields, but in Oregon? You might have thought Oregon was the land of pine forests or even the high desert. Learn about how volcanoes work and the history of volcanic activity in the Pacific Northwest. We’ll be visiting the Newberry Volcanic National Monument… Located within the boundaries of the Deschutes River in Central Oregon, the site covers more than 50,000 acres of lava flows and lakes. In fact, lava flows cover about 1,200 square miles, which is almost the size of Rhode Island! Newberry Volcano is a caldera volcano formed by diverse styles of eruption and over 400 volcanic vents. After our tour we’ll have a picnic lunch at one of their scenic picnic areas. Our knowledgeable guide will give us a short city tour and tell us the history of Bend as we make our way back to our home for the night. Your evening is free to explore Downtown on your own… It features a wide array of sophisticated and unique small businesses, from beauty salons to fitness stores, from clothing boutiques to art galleries. Downtown Bend is also a diner’s paradise!  Double Tree by Hilton (B, L)

Day 3 – Saturday October 15th  2017 – Local Touring Bend & Sisters

You will also find boutique shops full of antiques, collectables, art, books, ephemera and more. Choices are abundant when it comes to dining in Sisters. Fine dining to fast food, Western classics to sweet treats, you’ll find them all!  Next we head to the awe-inspiring Crooked River Gorge lookout… The gorge is 500 ft. deep and surrounded by 400 ft. cliffs and is filled with a variety of wildlife. It offers some of the most breath taking scenery in Central Oregon. Our next stop is Smith Rock State Park… Its towers of volcanic ash rise like the spires of a cathedral out of the sage bushes and dust. Whether you come for the climb or come to unwind, you’ll see why Smith Rock is one of the 7 Wonders of Oregon.
