Day 1 – Friday May 25th – Portland to Chicago
We’ll fly non-stop to Chicago where our deluxe coach awaits. Welcome to the third largest city in the United States! Our home for the next 5 nights is the beautiful Hilton Palmer House. Enjoy the charms with the classic French Baroque decor in its landmark lobby. Originally a Chicago business magnate’s gift to his wife, the historic Palmer House Hilton has operated continuously since 1873. The Palmer House (D)

Day 2 – Saturday May 26th – Chicago – Local Touring
Meet Leah, our wonderful step-on guide. She will enlighten us on the vitality and excitement of Chicago! See Chicago’s main business section, one of the financial centers of the world; the famous “Loop”… home to Chicago’s commercial core, City Hall, and the seat of Cook County. In the late nineteenth century, cable car turnarounds and prominent elevated railway encircled the area, giving the Loop its name. See State Street, where Chicago’s fame began; the striking Richard J. Daley Plaza with its masterpiece the Pablo Picasso sculpture; Wrigley Field where we’ll hear about the Billy Goat curse; We’ll stop at Millennium Park & “The Bean” it’s one of the highlights of Millennium Park. Designed by the artists Anish Kapoor, the sculpture is made of 168 highly polished stainless steel plates – giving the appearance of liquid mercury. Up close, the highly reflective nature of the sculpture captures the beautiful skyline of Chicago. Enjoy some free time at Navy Pier with parks, promenades, shops, and restaurants. Next, enjoy an architecture  cruise on the historic Chicago River that showcases over 40 landmarks of modern architecture. Learn about Chicago’s rise from the Great Fire of 1871 to becoming the home of the skyscrapers. Tonight, enjoy a delicious dinner… Chicago is known as a “foodies” paradise famous for – Italian Beef/Sausage – Pizza… not just deep dish but “Chicago-style” – Steak & Polish Food… Yummm… The Palmer House (B, D)

Day 3 – Sunday May 27th – Chicago – Local Touring
We have a special treat for you this morning… a behind the scenes tour at the Field Museum. It’s the largest Natural History Museum in the world. We’ll Journey to the hidden collections of the museum and tour the artifacts in spaces normally off-limits to the public. Your afternoon is free to explore… you can take in more of the Field museum or head next door to the Aquarium. Our hotel is in a prime location within walking distance to Millennium Park, the Art Institute or, ride the L Train (short for “elevated”) which  is the rapid transit system serving the city and some of its surrounding suburbs. Tonight, we head to Tommy Gun’s Garage for a delicious sit-down dinner. Afterwards, join “Vito”, “Gloves”, da “gangsters” and da “flappers” for non-stop comedy and dangerous fun. Day 4 – Monday May 28th – Chicago – Local Touring  
Today, we’ll tour the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio; it served as Wright’s private residence and workplace from 1889 to 1909. He used his home as an architectural laboratory, experimenting with design concepts that contain the seeds of his architectural philosophy. Enjoy a delicious lunch at Winberie’s in Oak park before your free afternoon and evening. You may want to take in The Art Institute of Chicago… Voted #1 museum in the world by TripAdvisor Travelers. Founded in 1879 it’s one of the oldest and largest art museums in the U.S. that  includes iconic works such as Georges Seurat’s A Sunday on La Grande Jatte — 1884, Pablo Picasso’s The Old Guitarist, Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks, and Grant Wood’s American Gothic. Its permanent collection houses nearly 300,000 works of art! The Palmer House (B, L)

Day 5 – Tuesday – May 29th – Chicago – Local Touring
Leah will join us again today as we explore the culinary delights of Chicago… as diverse as the city itself! Experience a behind-the-scenes look at this delicious world. Meet the professionals… bakers, caterers, wine experts, and specialty food experts. Tour The Factory… an extremely successful baking company that produces delicious breads and sweets. See a Renown Culinary School where future chefs are created. Enjoy the Ultimate Chocolate Experience… meet the chocolatier and master of this culinary art in her kitchen. Visit the Wonderfully Scented Shop of SPICES… This family owned business supplies the nation’s top chef’s. Observe a Cooking Demonstration in the heart of the market district… Learn cutting edge tips for contemporary cooking. Enjoy A Special Lunch… In a very unique setting. Meet the owner and chef in her kitchen/cafe. You’ll have time to rest up before dinner. Afterward we’ll head to a Broadway play. Note – the theater is trying to extend Hamilton… we will know after the 1st of the year. The Palmer House (B, L, D)

Day 6 – Wednesday May 30th – Chicago to Portland  
Our final day we’ll visit Sears Tower, a 110-story, 1,451-foot skyscraper. Offering spectacular views spanning up to four states, a one-stop Chicago experience full of interactive exhibits. Step outside the tallest building in the western hemisphere and the third tallest in the world. The Ledge’s glass boxes extend out 4.3 feet from the Skydeck. We stop for a lunch at Giordano’s Pizzeria on our way to the airport. Come experience this beautiful waterfront city… it’s among the world’s friendliest big cities ready to meet your needs and surpass your expectations! (B, L)
