Willamette
Valley Wine & Covered Bridges
Sunday May 20th 9:00 - 4:30
Our
day begins with a drive into the "countryside" of
the Willamette Valley to visit some of Oregon’s beloved Covered
Bridges... There are numerous covered bridges to be found here.
Many of these covered bridges are still in use, others have been restored
for historical preservation and are adjoined with sprawling parks and
nature trails. We’ll get up close for photos.... Next a scrumptious
lunch, tasting and tour of Willamette Valley Vineyards.... The vineyard
site rises from 500-750 ft. in elevation with seven to twelve degree
slopes tilted toward the sun. As a result, the vines get excellent air
drainage and are above the frost line. We’ll continue into the countryside
to Cubanisimo Vineyards for a tasting.... They are known for
their Estate Pinot Noir which represents the full body and flavor of
their passionately managed vineyards, made with 100% estate grown grapes.
Just down the road is Zenith Vineyard also known for their fantastic
Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. You’ll fall in love with the setting and
see why great wines come from such beautiful places.

Mount St Helens
Monday
May 21st 9:00 - 4:30
Travel
north to our neighbor, Washington State to see Mt. St. Helens.
On May 18th, 1980 the eruption of Mount St. Helens disrupted the lives
of thousands and changed more than 200 square miles of rich forest into
a grey, lifeless landscape. Now, more than thirty-one years later, the
land around the mountain is slowly healing. Nature may be covering the
scars of the 1980 eruption, but many people will never forget what happened
that spring day. Our first stop the Mt. St. Helens Visitor Center
at Silver Lake. Next enjoy a delicious buffet lunch at Hoffstadt
Bluffs Mt. St. Helens Restaurant. Enjoy glass blowing and visit
the gift shop... before the highlight Johnston Ridge Observatory,
see the award winning film of the eruption, you’re just six miles from
the crater. All these enable us to learn about this amazing geological
event. Witness first hand the devastation and learn of "her"
newest developments.
