 Astoria Part 2… Sunday, February 18th, 2018

Adapted and Directed by Chris Coleman; based on the book ASTORIA: John Jacob Astor and Thomas Jefferson’s Lost Pacific Empire, A Story of Wealth, Ambition, and Survival by Peter Stark. A World Premiere! At a time when the edge of American settlement barely reached beyond the Appalachian Mountains, two visionaries, President Thomas Jefferson and millionaire John Jacob Astor, foresaw that one day the Pacific would dominate world trade as much as the Atlantic did in their day. Just two years after the Lewis and Clark expedition concluded in 1806, Jefferson and Astor turned their sights westward once again. Thus began one of history’s dramatic but largely forgotten turning points in the conquest of the North American continent. Leading to the establishment of Astoria, the first permanent United States settlement on the West Coast. Includes: Transportation to/from Salem, Woodburn & Tualatin; Performance; Lunch; & Gratuities.

Willamette Valley Wine Tour… April 19th, 2018

We’ll head into Oregon’s beautiful wine country today… First stop is up the steep slope of Chehalem Ridge to… Tresori Vineyards. Dave, the wine maker will enlighten us on their wines and how they capture the Oregon summers with a blackberry explosion, subtle spices, and an earthy, elegant finish. We’ll nibble on cheese and crackers while we enjoy a tasting here. Next, it’s Domino IV’s Farm in Carlton… Todd (yes Chanda’s Todd) will be our host here… he will tell us about the wide variety of wines that Domino IV is known for as we taste and enjoy lunch. Our next stop is the K& M vineyard on the South slopes of Parrett Mountain… It’s also the private home of Ken and Mauro (K&M). Enjoy the beautiful setting as we experience the bright cherry flavors, the hint of spice and the bold fruit that make Oregon Pinot Noir such a treat. We will also have some chocolates to pair with the delicious wines. Assisting in the vineyard management are three miniature sheep… They are Babydoll or Southdown sheep. Full of personality. Includes: Transportation to/from Salem, Woodburn & Tualatin; Wine Tastings & Snacks; Lunch; & Gratuities.
